Building brands, businesses, and legacies beyond the playing field.
info@brooklinesport.comOur Story
Our story
Brookline Sports wasn’t born from a business plan. It was born from a conversation that sparked a vision.
While working with the New York Jets, our founder, Michael Seabrook, saw a gap in athlete representation. Players had agents managing their careers on the field, but who was helping them build their lives and businesses beyond it?
Who builds relationships while you’re at practice? Who creates opportunities while you’re focused on the game? Who’s building your future while you’re chasing greatness?
With a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and experience in marketing partnerships at Madison Square Garden, Michael saw an opportunity to bring strategy, relationships, and business development together to serve athletes differently.
In 2016, Brookline Sports was founded to bridge the gap between athletic success and business opportunity.
We believed the game was evolving, and athlete representation needed to evolve with it. Today’s athletes are more than competitors. They’re entrepreneurs, creators, cultural influencers, and community leaders with the power to build something bigger than sports.
Built on industry experience, genuine relationships, and a passion for creating opportunities, Brookline helps athletes grow their brands, build businesses, develop meaningful partnerships, and impact their communities.
We don’t just represent athletes. We build the business behind them.
More Than an Athlete. Only Family.
We Saw the Gap. We Built the Bridge.
We don’t just represent the athlete. We help build the business behind them.
Mission and vision
Our mission
Our mission is to empower athletes to become more than the game they play. Through education, mentorship, and strategic guidance, we help athletes build their brands, own their stories, and turn their influence into lasting opportunities. Rooted in culture, community, and our Only Family mentality, we’re committed to developing leaders, building businesses, and creating legacies that extend far beyond the playing field.
Our vision
Our vision is to redefine athlete management by creating a culture where athletes are empowered to own their stories, build their businesses, and create legacies that outlast their playing careers. Rooted in our Only Family mentality, we envision a community where success extends beyond the individual, opening doors, uplifting communities, and inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and achieve more.
Our pillars
What makes us different, and the values we hold ourselves to. Intro: 20–30 words
Identity
Know who you are. Own your story.
Every athlete has a story, personality, purpose, and influence that extends beyond their sport. Brookline helps athletes discover what makes them unique and translate that identity into an authentic personal brand.
Ownership
Your name. Your business. Your future.
We believe athletes should be more than the face of a brand. They should have the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to build something of their own. Through education, strategic guidance, and business development, we help athletes take control of their futures.
Relationships
Only Family. Always Connected.
At Brookline, relationships come before transactions. We believe trust, loyalty, and genuine connections are the foundation of long-term success. Our Only Family mentality shapes how we support athletes, collaborate with partners, and build our network.
Impact
Make moves that mean more.
Success isn’t measured only by contracts, followers, or earnings. We believe an athlete’s platform carries the power to create change, uplift communities, inspire future generations, and build a legacy that lasts beyond their playing career.
Our journey
Milestones: add 3–6The Vision Takes Shape
Brookline Sports officially came to life with a vision to do athlete management differently. We started laying the foundation, building relationships, gaining industry experience, and sharpening our knowledge to create something bigger than traditional representation.
Putting Our Vision Into Action
We welcomed our first professional athlete into the Brookline family. From guiding the athlete and their family through the transition to professional sports to developing their brand, community initiatives, and business ventures, we began putting our More Than an Athlete philosophy into action.
A New Era of Opportunity
On July 1, 2021, the NCAA opened the door for collegiate athletes to monetize their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). Brookline stepped into this new era, helping athletes understand their rights, recognize their value, and navigate opportunities beyond competition.
Expanding Into Collegiate Athletics
Brookline welcomed its first collegiate athlete, expanding our reach into NIL representation and the transfer portal. From personal branding and recruiting strategy to NIL contract negotiations, we helped athletes navigate major career decisions and take greater ownership of their futures.
Expanding Into the WNBA
Brookline Sports reached a new milestone by signing its first WNBA athlete for off-court management and strategic marketing, expanding our presence in professional women's basketball and continuing our mission to help athletes build their brands, businesses, and opportunities beyond the game.

The game has changed. The opportunities are bigger than ever.
Since the NCAA opened the door to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities on July 1, 2021, the landscape of high school and college sports has continued to evolve. Today’s athletes aren’t just competing, they’re building brands, creating opportunities, and taking ownership of their futures. But with new opportunities come new challenges.
That’s where Brookline Sports comes in. We help athletes and families navigate the evolving NIL landscape through education, strategic guidance, and the tools to make informed moves on and off the field.

For high school recruits
Recruiting is no longer just about finding the right school, it’s about finding the right opportunity. With NIL and the transfer portal reshaping college athletics, understanding where you fit into a program’s plans matters more than ever. From roster opportunities and player development to long-term goals, we help athletes and families navigate the recruiting landscape, ask the right questions, and make informed decisions about their future.
Know Your Fit
Don’t just chase the name. Find where you belong.Understand how you fit into a program’s system, coaching philosophy, and long-term plans. The right school isn’t always the biggest name, it’s the one that gives you the best opportunity to develop and succeed.
Understand the Roster
Know the competition before you commit. With the transfer portal reshaping recruiting, understand how a program builds its roster. Are they investing in high school talent or prioritizing experienced transfers? Ask about positional depth, scholarship opportunities, and your projected role.
Invest in Your Future
Think beyond signing day.Evaluate the program’s player development, academic support, NIL resources, and opportunities beyond sports. The right decision should position you for success both during and after your college career.
For parents
College recruiting isn’t what it used to be, and neither is the role of a parent. With NIL, the transfer portal, evolving roster opportunities, and financial considerations reshaping college athletics, families are navigating an entirely new landscape. From recruiting decisions and contract negotiations to conversations with agents and financial advisors, there’s more to consider than ever before. At Brookline Sports, we help parents understand the changing game, ask the right questions, and guide their athletes through one of the most important decisions of their future.
The Recruiting Game Has Changed
Understand the landscape before making your next move. The recruiting game has changed. With NIL, the transfer portal, and shifting roster rules, coaches are making moves differently. High school athletes now compete with experienced transfers for opportunities, making it essential to understand a program’s roster strategy, scholarship availability, and long-term plans. Knowing the landscape helps you guide your athlete toward the right fit and the right opportunity.
Know the Business Behind the Game
More opportunities. More decisions. More to understand.College athletics is bigger than scholarships and playing time. NIL deals, athlete compensation, agents, and financial advisors are changing the game. With more money comes bigger decisions. Understanding contracts, eligibility, and who’s truly looking out for your athlete is key to making smart moves and protecting their future beyond the game.
Protect Their Future. Build Their Legacy.
The right decision goes beyond signing day.Choosing a college is bigger than the next four years. It’s about building a foundation for life beyond the game. From athletic development and academics to personal branding and future opportunities, every move should align with your athlete’s goals. Brookline helps families look beyond signing day, ask the right questions, and make confident decisions for what’s next.
Questions Every Parent Should Be Asking
The recruiting game has changed, and so have the conversations families need to have. Whether you're speaking with college coaches, agents, or athlete representatives, knowing what to ask can help protect your athlete's future and uncover opportunities beyond the game.
Questions to ask college coaches about roster plans, playing time, and how your athlete will be developed.
Why It Matters: An offer doesn't always mean there's a clear plan. Understanding how coaches envision your child's role helps you evaluate whether the program aligns with their development and long-term goals.
Why It Matters: Roster depth can directly impact opportunities for playing time and development. Knowing who is ahead of your child helps you better understand the competition and their potential path forward.
Why It Matters: The transfer portal has changed how programs build their rosters. Understanding whether coaches are pursuing experienced players at your child's position provides insight into their recruiting priorities and potential opportunities.
Why It Matters: Every program approaches player development differently. Knowing how coaches invest in younger athletes helps you determine whether your child will have the resources, attention, and opportunity to grow.
Why It Matters: Not every athlete will see the field immediately. Understanding how coaches develop and support players outside the starting lineup reveals their commitment to your child's growth beyond game day.
Questions to ask agents and athlete representatives about services, priorities, and what they deliver beyond a contract.
Why It Matters: Representation isn't one-size-fits-all. Understanding when an agent or advisor may be beneficial, what services they provide, and how representation could affect eligibility helps families make informed decisions before signing an agreement.
Why It Matters: Representation should extend beyond negotiating deals. Ask how your representative plans to develop your athlete's brand, create business opportunities, build relationships, and prepare them for life beyond sports.
Why It Matters: Signing with an agency doesn't guarantee personalized attention. Understanding how representatives allocate their time, develop individual strategies, and deliver on their commitments helps ensure your athlete doesn't become just another name on the roster.
NIL Parent Resource Center
New Rules. Real Questions. Bigger Decisions.
The game has changed, and parents need to know how to navigate it. From recruiting and the transfer portal to NIL deals, college contracts, and athlete representation, we're breaking down the business behind the game. Get the knowledge and resources to ask the right questions, understand your options, and help your athlete make smarter moves.
Understand how the transfer portal, roster strategies, and evolving recruiting practices are changing opportunities for high school athletes.
The transfer portal gives college programs another way to add experienced players, so some rosters have fewer open spots for incoming high school athletes. Coaches now balance signing freshmen with pursuing transfers at the same position. Families should ask each program how it plans to use both groups, since approaches differ by school and sport.
The transfer portal has changed how college coaches build their rosters, with some programs prioritizing experienced transfers over incoming freshmen. While this can create fewer opportunities at certain positions, high school recruiting remains an important part of building college programs. Families should understand each school's recruiting strategy, roster needs, and commitment to developing young talent before making a decision.
A coaching change can affect a recruit's role, the style of play, and sometimes the roster. Whether an athlete can be released from a commitment depends on what was signed and on the rules of the governing body and conference. Before committing, ask about the program's stability and what protections, if any, are in writing.
The right fit depends on more than the name on the jersey. Playing opportunity, development, academics, coaching staff, and support beyond the sport all matter. Smaller programs may offer earlier opportunities and larger programs more visibility, but neither is guaranteed, so compare each option against your athlete's goals.
Understand the role of agents and advisors, how representation works, and what families should consider before signing an agreement.
Not every athlete needs one, and the answer depends on the sport, age, and level. Some families lean on trusted advisors or attorneys, while others seek representation for brand partnerships. Before signing anything, understand what services are offered, what they cost, and how they could affect eligibility.
An NIL representative typically helps with endorsements, brand partnerships, and other opportunities tied to an athlete's name, image, and likeness. A professional sports agent traditionally negotiates professional playing contracts. Some professionals do both, and requirements can vary by state and governing body, so confirm what a representative is authorized to do.
Structures vary. Some representatives take a percentage of the deals they help secure, some charge flat or hourly fees, and others use different arrangements. Ask for the structure in writing, including what is charged, when, and whether fees apply to deals your family finds on its own.
Look for transparency about fees, a clear explanation of services, references from other families, and experience that fits your athlete's goals. Ask how many athletes they represent and how they would prioritize yours. Be cautious of anyone who guarantees earnings or pressures you to sign quickly.
It can, depending on the sport, level, and governing-body rules, which differ for high school and college athletes. Certain agreements or services may raise eligibility questions. Check with the school's compliance office or state association, and consider having an attorney review any agreement before signing.
Learn about college compensation agreements, scholarships, contract terms, and the financial considerations families should understand.
An NIL deal is generally an agreement with a third party, such as a brand, for the use of an athlete's name, image, or likeness. A college compensation agreement is typically with the institution and may be structured differently under current rules. They are separate arrangements, each with its own terms and obligations.
In some cases terms may be negotiable, but this depends on the school, the sport, and how the agreement is structured. Families can ask questions about length, payment schedule, and obligations. It is wise to have the terms reviewed by a qualified professional before signing.
That depends on the terms of the agreement. Some contracts may end, change, or carry conditions if an athlete leaves the program. Read the sections on termination, transfer, and payment before signing, and ask what would happen in each scenario.
Whether payments continue after an injury or reduced playing time depends on the specific contract language. Some agreements tie compensation to conditions or performance, while others do not. Ask how injury, role changes, and roster decisions are addressed in writing.
Not generally. A scholarship is athletic financial aid tied to costs like tuition and housing, while a compensation agreement is a separate arrangement. How the two interact can vary by institution and governing-body rules, so ask the school to explain each in writing.
It is worth strongly considering, especially for multi-year commitments or significant money. An attorney can explain obligations, termination terms, and how an agreement may affect eligibility, taxes, or a future transfer. Look for someone with experience in sports or contract law.
Explore how athletes can build commercial partnerships, understand their market value, and protect themselves when signing endorsement agreements.
NIL stands for name, image, and likeness. Where permitted, it allows eligible athletes to earn compensation from things like endorsements, appearances, social media content, and camps. What is allowed and what an athlete might earn varies, and nothing is guaranteed.
In many states they can, but rules differ by state association and school, and some states restrict certain activities. Check your state high school association's current policy before agreeing to anything. Rules can also change when an athlete moves on to college.
Not necessarily. Reach is one factor, but brands also look at an athlete's story, community ties, reputation, and fit with the brand. Athletes with smaller followings can still find opportunities, often with local businesses, though results vary.
Read the full agreement, including what the athlete must deliver, how and when payment is made, how long it lasts, and whether it limits other deals. Confirm it complies with school, state, and governing-body rules. Having a qualified professional review it is a good idea.
Often yes, unless an agreement includes exclusivity or category restrictions. Some contracts prevent athletes from working with competing brands. Check those terms carefully, along with any school or team rules that apply.
Start by reviewing the contract for payment terms and remedies. Keep records of communications, deliverables, and invoices, and follow up in writing. If it is not resolved, consider speaking with an attorney, and make payment terms clear up front in future deals.
Discover how athletes can develop their identity, build meaningful opportunities, manage earnings, and prepare for life beyond sports.
Many athletes benefit from starting early by learning who they are, what they care about, and how they want to be seen. Early brand building is more about character, consistency, and habits than about earning money. Age-appropriate steps with parent involvement, and attention to the rules for their level, are a sensible start.
No. Social media is one tool, but a personal brand also includes reputation, community involvement, academics, work ethic, and how an athlete treats people. Coaches and brands often notice all of these.
Athletes stand out by being authentic, consistent, and professional. A clear story, strong values, quality content, and community engagement all help. Responding promptly and treating partners well matters too.
In general, NIL income is often treated as taxable, and athletes may be considered self-employed for tax purposes. Details depend on the amount, the athlete's situation, and the state. Consult a qualified tax professional and review IRS guidance.
It can help, especially as earnings grow or become more complex. A qualified advisor can assist with budgeting, saving, taxes, and planning. Look for a licensed professional who is transparent about fees and open about any conflicts of interest.
Athletes can build skills, relationships, and experience through internships, mentorship, education, entrepreneurship, and community work. Treat NIL as one piece of a longer plan rather than the whole plan. Planning early for life after sports gives athletes more options.
